Primary principle

Bagua. Primary principle

The first order in the Daoist tradition is associated with the Tai He Mountain, or Wudangshan, where Bao Si of the Celestial Empire perceived the nine types of energy. Bao Si, who was conceived from the saliva of a dragon, possessed super-sensible perception that helped her identify all types of breathing.

This scheme of harmony was further developed by the guardian of the east, Fu Xi, who defined the qi-qi energy as dead and rejected it. Based on the eight types of breathing, Fu Xi created trigrams or diagrams of space – knowledge that was later ritualized by the School of Perfect Unity in the doctrine of harmony. The practical concepts of this knowledge were later developed in the Wudang school of Chen Tuan and were formalised in the Daoist ritual of the Rotating domes, which turned them into a key to comprehending all the practical inner arts associated with movement.

It is believed this knowledge was later used by Dong Haichuan in the development of the Baguazhang system, which gave form to numerous cosmic laws. This connected Dong Haichuan with the teachings of the Eight Immortals. Legend also tells that his own art helped Dong Haichuan achieve immortality.

The spiritual wholeness capable of classifying everything represents the order of Fu Xi.
