Mauro Pachak
Country: Argentina
Practical experience — since 2000
Mauro Pachak, also known as Marcelo Plotnik, represents a particular way of life of the modern shaman. He constantly communicates with the spirit nature of plants through the power of the Mate plant. He implements the shaman’s basic need to be attentive to the Pachamama Earth power and the plant spirits.
His constant companion is the calabaza. He seems to wear it with the same sense as Dumas’ Musketeers wore their cloak and sword. There are very few socially adapted shamans in Latin America, and Mauro Pachak is one of them, representing the spirit and the space of Latin America.
He is his own man, whether in the jungle, among other shamans, courageous gauchos, or temperamental macho men. Marcelo is the real embodiment of the master in Latin America. This person calmly, unhurriedly, conquers one mountain after another. And he himself seems to become the peak, which controls the volcano inside him. At the same time, Mauro Pachak is a man who has subordinated his entire life to the inner search.
Having devoted his life to the study of Latin American shamanistic traditions, the art of Taoist practices of inner alchemy, and Zen Buddhism, he brings into our reality the concept of neutralizing distraction, neutralizing time-killing, introducing the mate-concept of attention to space, intention, and service to space, the Earth, which can also be seen within the art of deep reflection on human life.
Marcelo Plotnik is the first person who revealed the depth of Mate ceremony culture to the Russians back in the late 1990s. In 2001 he visited Russia and presented the art of Mate Ceremony in Moscow, which gave an impulse to its active development today. In addition, he created the first shamanic Mate group in Russia, which included the pioneers of shamanism in Russia, Ben Chelero, Eduardo Lazaro, and Toltec.
Marcelo says, “I didn’t drink my mother’s milk as a child but Mate because my mother was born in the Chaco jungle, not far from where the Guaraní people lived, who introduced the plant and the drink of power to the world”. Marcelo initially felt close to and understood this culture. After immersing himself in the study of the ceremonial part of this tradition, he introduced a special kind of meditation into the space – Mate-Meditation.
Throughout 2000-2018, Marcelo Plotnik has been organizing and participating in various educational and initiation tours related to South American shamanic traditions as part of the INBI activities.
Having devoted many years to studying the psychology of people, as well as the various properties of medical and natural products, Marcelo has deeply realized the benefits of using natural products (especially Yerba Mate). At the moment, Marcelo dedicates most of his activities to the fight against drugs. An expert in the field of anti-toxic remedies and a highly qualified psychologist, today Marcelo is one of the main specialists in Argentina who helps to overcome drug addictions and leads the fight against drugs.
Marcelo is the co-author of the book “Mate“.
