Indian alchemy is based on the idea of the creation of the world by churningthe Ocean of Milk, or the World Ocean. This process refers to certain transformation and initiation, associated with the activation of the Shakti energy. It requires that we acquireamrita (the heavenly breath) and be able to produce soma (the immortal nectar), as well as knowledge about the distillation of this energy. The very quality of amrita is associated with the consciousness or the light of Vishnu.<\/p>\n<p>This process of churning is unique and fundamental for Indian alchemy, which was also influenced by the classical ideas of Daoist alchemy, as well as Himalayan and Tibetan alchemy.
